Nvidia company as a part of its online conference on the graphics processor technology announced its plans to create the fastest supercomputer in the UK, called “Cambridge-1″.
Shares of Nvidia rose to 4.44% until the closing of the trading on Monday.
Such organizations as: the biggest medical company in the UK GlaxoSmithKline, the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, fund NHS Foundation Trust Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College London and Oxford Nanopore will receive free access to the supercomputer NVIDIA «Cambridge-1”.
NVIDIA`s CEO, Jensen Huang, announcing “Cambridge-1”, called it the future “epicenter of the medical research”, “The Innovation Center in the UK, which will promote the pioneering work of the national researchers in the field of health and the drug discovery.”
In particular, the high computing power «Cambridge-1″ may help doctors, pharmacists and scientists in the search for treatments and vaccines COVID-19.
The press release states: “NVIDIA also announced the partnership with GSK, to create the world’s first laboratory to search for the drugs, using artificial intelligence.”
According to the Nvidia’s plans, Cambridge-1 cost of $ 52 million will be installed at the University of Cambridge and has to be put into the operation by the end of 2020.
