The current management of the state company Ukrzaliznytsia does not intend to implement the initiative of the previous management to involve representatives of the German company Deutsche Bahn in the management of the Ukrainian railways. This was stated by the head of the board of the UZ Volodymyr Zhmak in the interview with the edition of the Economic Truth, published on Monday, September 28.
“Now I do not see the possibility and sense to involve any foreign specialists. With all respect to Deutsche Bahn in terms of the freight, it is difficult to compare us, “he mentioned.
In Europe, the freight traffic is not as vital as in Ukraine, said Zhmak. According to him, Germany, Austria, and even Poland have very developed networks of highways, so it makes no sense for the railways to compete with them.
“Passenger traffic in European countries receives financial assistance from the government. This is a well-known story. So now, due to the expertise that is me and my team, I do not see any need to involve the international consultants “- concluded Zhmak.
