The computer system of the American medical company Universal Health Services, which has a membership of over 400 medical institutions, has become the object of attack by hackers that demand the ransom. This was reported by CNBC, citing sources from the company’s employees.
According to the TV channel, computers in the various institutions of the Universal Health Services began to fail on the weekend Access to the shared database was blocked, the files were encrypted. Because of the inability to use a computer, doctors had to make all medical records with the pen and paper.
“Usually hackers demand to pay the ransom in the exchange for the password, which allows you to decrypt these files,” – the source explained to the TV channel.
Universal Health Services did not respond to the channel’s inquiries about the comments due to the cyberattack, but posted the statement on its website stating that its corporate network was “currently disconnected due to the information security issues.”
Note that the Universal Health Services, in addition to the United States, has facilities in the UK. It has about 90,000 employees.
