The Dolyna salt deposit in the Ivano-Frankivsk region is set to resume salt extraction, according to Ivan Dyriw, head of the Dolyna territorial community.
The Dolyna salt deposit is one of the oldest in Ukraine — salt has been extracted there since the 10th century. Moreover, until the mid-20th century, the Dolyna salt plant was one of the city’s largest enterprises.
“Work is now in full swing to restart salt production. These are not just promises — concrete steps are being taken: an active project is underway to develop the Dolyna deposit, including a thorough environmental impact assessment,” Dyriw said.
The project for the future salt plant is being developed by experts from the State Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemistry (NIOCHIM).
In 2023, a special license for extracting rock salt (halite) was awarded to the Kharkiv-based company Planeta Komfort LLC.
“Reviving salt production in Dolyna is not just an economic project. It is a symbol of renewal — a return to historical roots and the opening of new opportunities for the region. It’s a chance for Dolyna to reclaim its rightful place on Ukraine’s salt industry map,” the mayor added.
