Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has instructed an audit of subsoil users operating at Ukraine’s strategically important deposits.
“I have instructed the Ministry of Economy and the State Service of Geology and Subsoil to audit all subsoil users who have received permits for strategically important deposits. We plan to check who is actually working and who is just holding licenses without extraction. Such assets must either deliver results or be returned to auction for bona fide investors,” she wrote.
According to Svyrydenko, it was also decided to relaunch tenders for the distribution of hydrocarbons at the Mezhyhirya and Svichanska fields.
“The conditions have been updated—with the U.S. partner having the right to purchase the output and with a guarantee that no more favorable terms will be offered to other participants. This is in line with the provisions of the U.S.-Ukraine agreement on creating an investment reconstruction fund,” the prime minister noted, adding that “our natural resources must work for Ukraine’s economy.”
