AMC Entertainment Holdings, which owns the world’s largest network of cinemas, presented its financial report for the third quarter of 2020. His company ended with a net loss of $ 906.5 million – 16.5 times worse than last year.
In the third quarter, the company’s cinemas began to reopen after a five-month of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their occupancy in both the United States and Europe remains extremely low – in the range between 20% and 40%. The situation was aggravated by the postponement of many high-profile film premieres to 2021, which makes it more difficult to attract viewers back to cinemas. As a result, the company’s revenue for the third quarter was only $ 119.5 million against $ 1.3 billion a year earlier (-91%).
In general, since the beginning of the year AMC Entertainment has suffered losses of $ 3.64 billion.
