Acura Ends Production of ZDX Electric SUV After Just One Year on the Market

26.09.2025 News

Acura has officially confirmed the end of production for its first electric SUV, the ZDX, which lasted just over a year on the market, Carscoops reports. The model entered production in March 2024, but following the cancellation of its joint project with General Motors at the end of 2023 and skipping the 2025 model year, the company decided to discontinue it altogether.

“To better align our lineup with customer needs, market conditions, and long-term strategic goals, we can confirm that production of the Acura ZDX has ended,” a company spokesperson stated.

Acura dealers received an internal memo explaining the decision as being driven by weak demand. Despite discounts of over $30,000 off the sticker price, the model failed to gain traction in the market.

Still, the company believes the ZDX laid the groundwork for its future EV lineup. In the second half of 2026, production of the new Acura RSX electric vehicle will begin at the Ohio plant, alongside preparations for upcoming hybrid models.

Owners of already sold ZDX units, according to the automaker, will continue to receive full support through the dealer network—including service, parts, and warranty coverage.

Meanwhile, the Honda Prologue, Acura’s sibling model, will remain on the market. It continues to see more stable demand and will serve as the brand’s key EV until Honda’s next-generation dedicated platform arrives.
