The Ryazan Oil Refinery, which supplies fuel to the Moscow region, has halted crude processing following an attack by a Ukrainian drone. Reuters reports this, citing three industry sources.
The largest Rosneft refinery — which processed 13.1 million tonnes of crude last year and accounted for 5% of Russia’s total refining capacity — is expected to remain offline at least until the end of the month.
The drone strike on Saturday caused a fire at the facility. According to the sources, the plant’s main crude-processing unit, responsible for 48% of the refinery’s capacity (8 million tonnes per year), was knocked out of operation.
The Ryazan refinery had already partially shut down on October 23 due to a previous drone attack, losing about a quarter of its processing capacity. Now, the plant is completely paralyzed: all units have stopped, the sources told Reuters.
