The European Union has expressed its readiness to help Ukraine to gain access to the coronavirus vaccine. This is stated in a statement following the summit, the text of which was published on Monday, October 6, on the website of the European Pravda.
The parties agreed that a pandemic threatens the entire world and its consequences, citing “unprecedented challenge for the health systems and economies,” as the members of the EU and Ukraine, should fight together.
The relevant decision was signed by the parties at the summit. It guarantees that Ukraine will fall under the COVID-19 Global Vaccine Availability Initiative program.
“We have expressed our readiness to work together to ensure access to the future vaccine against COVID-19 as the global public domain with the affordable prices,” the statement said.
Kyiv and Brussels also stressed the importance of the strengthening their preparedness and response capacity, exchange information in a free, transparent and the operational manner and to improve the international response to the pandemic.
