US regulators fined BMW for $ 40 million

US regulators fined BMW for $ 40 millionStructure of BMW in the USA is accused by regulatory authorities in violation of Federal safety regulations, and the late withdrawal that  do not comply with statutory safety systems.

Mini Cooper cars, which are produced  by BMW, failed  the crash test; the cars were not relevant  minimum safety standards.  The company had to warn its clients about this and to withdraw the machines.

Company will pay a fine of $ 40 million, which includes $ 10 million directly the fine, $ 10 million expenses for capital repairs and other  procedures,  and $ 20 million for penalties if the company fail to timely do all the changes.

BMW acknowledged their guilt in violating American traffic safety rules and pledged to immediately correct all defects .

Now according to the instructions of the regulatory authorities, in addition to the fine, the BMW  would be monitored by an independent security consultant for  two years. The consultant will  make recommendations regarding the repair of machines, and monitor the process of  removal of defects.

The representative of BMW says that ” they seek to further improve  their production processes in order to better serve their clients,” and that they “respect the regulatory authorities and  looked forward to working with them to develop joint solutions in future.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USA this is not the first penalty for the  German automaker, related to violation of safety rules. In the year 2012, BMW had  already been fined by the United States regulatory authorities in the amount of $ 3 million for such offenses.
