Shares of Kodak decreased by 43% due to freezing of credit for $ 765 million

12.08.2020 News

Kodak’s shares fell by 42.87% to $ 8.50 per share at the opening of trading of US, after which paper trading was temporarily suspended. According to the New York Stock Exchange, the decline in shares slowed to 33%.

Quotes fell after the announcement of the termination of the loan agreement for Kodak for $ 765 million until the completion of the investigation of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company had to get this money to create a pharmaceutical production.

In late July, news of a loan from the US International Finance Corporation led to a speculative rise in Kodak shares from $ 2.1 per share to $ 60. The sharp movement in shares began on July 27 – the day before the official announcement of the loan.

According to Reuters, some of the company’s top managers received options the day before the official loan announcement. Democratic senator Elizabeth Warren asked to examine the situation on violations of laws on insider trading, after which the SEC launched an investigation. Kodak said it was conducting an internal investigation.
