Starbucks customers will know from which grain prepared their beverage

28.08.2020 News

In the US, customers in Starbucks stores will be told the code of the drink, with which they can get information about where the grain of their choice was delivered, in what conditions it was grown and fried. Farmers who cooperate with the network, also can track their products.

“We’ve been able to keep track of all the coffee we buy on any farm for almost two decades,” – said vice-president of Starbucks Michelle Burns.

Now the company will share this information with consumers using technology of blockchain Microsoft.

It is specified that coffee blends can be traced only to the country, individual grains – to the region where they were grown, to the team that delivered the coffee to the processing station, as well as to the farmer. Farmers do not need smartphones to track products, just go to the site from a PC or laptop, and enter the code manually.

“The younger generation is increasingly interested in where the food they buy comes from, under what conditions it is produced and transported. It encourages us to become more transparent supply chain, which they refer to technologies “, – explained in the company.
