Finnish corporation Nokia will supply about 7.5 thousand 5G transmitters for Telia in Finland, Scandinavia and the Baltics, the equipment supplier said on Wednesday.
Telia is a telecommunications company. The headquarters is located in Stockholm. The company’s largest shareholders are the governments of Sweden (37.3%) and Finland (11.7%). The company serves all government communications resources in Finland. Together with its subsidiaries, it serves 80.1 million customers in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic States, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Moldova and other CIS countries.
“We are pleased to expand our long-standing partnership with Telia. We have worked with Telia for more than half a century to provide best-in-class connectivity – now in the 5G era as we supply Telia technology in Finland and develop the 5G network in Northern Europe and the Baltics,” – said Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark.
Under the five-year of the agreement, which includes the modernization of obsolete networks and will cover 7.5 thousand transmitters, “Nokia will supply 5G in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, the Nordic countries and the Baltic countries.”
The 5G Telia network in Finland was launched in September 2018, put into commercial operation in early 2019 and currently covers 25% of the territory where potential consumers live.
