Worldwide chip sales in July rose by 20.6% year-on-year, reaching $62.1 billion. Compared to June, the semiconductor market grew by 3.6%, according to a press release from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
Sales in North and South America jumped 23.9% year-on-year, in China by 10.4%, in Europe by 5.7%, and in the Asia-Pacific and other regions by 35.6%. Meanwhile, Japan recorded a decline of 6.3%.
Month-on-month, chip sales increased by 8.6% in the Americas and by 4.9% in the Asia-Pacific region. However, sales in China fell by 1.3%, in Japan by 0.2%, and remained nearly unchanged in Europe.
SIA represents about 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry and roughly 66% of chipmakers from other countries.
