The first batch of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine has been delivered to Israel. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday, December 9.
“A DHL flight from Brussels carried more than 100,000 doses of the newly created vaccine and landed at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv around 9 a.m.,” the statement said.
The doses of the vaccine were transferred to a storage facility to be managed by the Israeli pharmaceutical company Teva. It will be responsible for keeping vaccines in sufficient quantity until the mass vaccination of the population. They should be stored at a temperature of -60 to -80 degrees Celsius and used for several minutes after they are removed from the freezer.
According to the plan, another cargo plane with 500,000 doses of the vaccine will arrive in Israel in the coming days, and another million – next week.
Physicians will be the first to receive the vaccine, followed by residents and workers of old people’s homes, as well as other people at risk. The exact date of mass vaccination is still unknown.
