Souce business: what is happening with the production in Ukraine?

24.01.2017 News

In Ukraine it is observed the decline in the production of sauces , namely the manufacture of ketchup, sauces based on mayonnaise and mustard. But, nevertheless, the export of these products was reduced insignificantly by manufacturers and domestic demand continues to be satisfactory.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, figure of ketchup manufacturing  decreased by 10.1% over the 2015 – to 69.9 thousand tons. During this year the mustard was produced in 6,800 tons (-4.2%). Also, in the above year it was made 5.7% fewer sauces based on mayonnaise, compared with a year earlier (2014).

At the same time the release of mayonnaise in the country increases. For comparison, in 2014 the production rate was 119,000 tons, and in 2015 it reached 126,200 tons.

As noted the experts of the Ukrainian company Pro-Consulting, in 2014-2015 on the Ukrainian market was a significant decline in consumer demand for a variety of sauces. This trend, in their opinion, closely linked to the fact that this type of product is not the food essentials, and is used to enhance the flavor characteristics. Also, the reducing of demand for sauces influenced the popularization of healthy lifestyle.
