Italy starts antitrust investigation against Apple, Google and Dropbox

The Italian Antimonopoly Authority has announced that investigating allegations of fairness and improper commercial practices of Apple’s cloud services, Google and Dropbox.

Along with the recent investigation into alleged fixing of prices, Italy’s antitrust regulator has said, that separately examines how companies, including Apple, manage their business in the cloud services in the country.

According to Reuters, the Italian company L’Autorit Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM) said it had started the investigation into allegations of contracts involving Apple, Google and Dropbox.

“The lawsuit is related to alleged improper of the commercial practice and the possible inclusion of unfair terms in the terms of the contract, “- said in a statement which reviewed by Reuters.

No additional details were released, and Apple has not yet made its public comments.

Italy’s AGCM has previously filed a lawsuit against Apple in the case of intentionally slowing down the iPhone with old batteries. In 2018, the authorities imposed a fine of 10 million euros (11.1 million dollars), which Apple unsuccessfully appealed.
