According to the results of the outgoing year, Apple and Samsung have not settled the patent dispute in court. As predicted by experts, the penalty in the amount of $ 548 million, which was awarded to pay Samsung for patent infringement, did not accept the competitors, and Apple has demanded additional sanctions in the amount of $ 180 million.
The American corporation has identified such amount for five devices of Samsung,that are on sale after the issuance of the first court decision in 2012.
Samsung didn’t agree to this prosecution and to the previous one and a fine of $ 548 million. Now the Korean company is trying to challenge the matter in the Supreme Court. The representatives of the Samsung company do not give any additional comments about the fine, which Apple makes..
Analysts report that despite the litigation, in 2015 both companies experienced a significant increase in profits. Apple has increased its revenue by 30, 6% to $ 11.1 billion. Total revenue for the 2015 fiscal year was $ 51.5 billion. In Korean rival Samsung the net profit for the year increased by 28% to $ 6.42 bln., total revenues amounted to $ 45.6 billion.
Based on data from analysts, the success of companies and profit growth are associated with geographic expansion, optimization of production and the introduction of new models, which are of interest to modern consumers.
Experts expect the resolution of litigation between the two corporations in 2016. There are suggestions that Samsung has finally agreed to pay the full amount, which Apple requires from them , and the company will sign the license agreement, and it will be focused on cooperation and integration, which will benefit two companies. Earlier, it was reported that Apple has signed a licensing agreement with another competitor Ericsson and so companies avoid litigation over patents.
