Airbus is announcing the hydrogen planes

24.09.2020 News

Airbus has published detailed information of three conceptual of the passenger`s plane called ZEROe with hydrogen fuel, stating that it can be put into operation by 2035.

The three aircraft differ in size and design, one will have a range of more than 2,000 nautical miles and the ability to carry from 120 to 200 passengers, the other will fly a thousand nautical miles and carry less quantity of the passengers. The third has a unique design of the “fuselage with a mixed wing”, the wings of which “merge” with the main body of the aircraft. Particular aircraft will accommodate up to 200 passengers. All mentioned aircraft will use turbofan engines that will use hydrogen as the main source of the energy.

“I strongly believe that the use of hydrogen – both in synthetic fuels and as a major source of energy for commercial aircraft – can significantly reduce the climate impact of aviation,” said Airbus CEO Guillaume Faure. “Such concepts will help us to study and to improve the design and layout of the world’s first zero-emission commercially neutral commercial aircraft, which we plan to put into the operation by 2035. ”
For the support in this program, Airbus should note that this technology is already used for land transport, although on a small scale. It is unknown how this will work in the aviation industry, but the prospects are very high – emissions from such fuels are only steam and water.

In the aviation in recent years, several planes were taking to the skies with low and zero emissions. In June, a battery-powered electric plane flew over the England which was called “Britain’s first commercial electric flight.”
Meanwhile, in May, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan with a fully electric motor with a capacity of 750 horsepower made its first flight after taking off from the airport in Moses Lake, Washington.

Other examples of innovative aircraft include the Solar Impulse 2, piloted aircraft, operating from the sun. In 2016, the aircraft managed to circumnavigate the globe without use of the fuel, although the journey was completed in 17 separate stages.
