Operators of gas transportation systems in Ukraine and Hungary – PJSC “Ukrtransgaz” and FGSZ Zrt – discussed the principles of cooperation between the companies in 2016 and the prospects for its expansion.
According to the press service of “Ukrtransgaz” with the Ukrainian side, the meeting, in particular, was attended by President Igor Prokop, First Vice-President Miroslav Khimki, Hungarian CEO of FGSZ Janos Laszlo Feher and the director of the management system and capacity trade Zoltan Gelleni.
As reported, the JSC “Ukrtransgaz” and the Hungarian operator FGSZ in May 29, 2015 signed an agreement to merge cross-border gas pipelines (an agreement on interconnections, interconnection agreement) between Ukraine and Hungary. Interconnector capacity in the direction of Hungary is 26 billion cubic meters per year, in the direction of Ukraine – 6.1 billion cubic meters per year.
The signing of the merger agreement with European operators is a necessary first step to bring the relationship with them into conformity with European legislation. In order to co-operation between adjacent operators has become a full-fledged, “Gazprom” must provide “Ukrtransgaz” with information about gas flows through Ukraine to Europe (shippers codes).
“Ukrtransgaz”, 100% of which is owned by “Naftogaz Ukraine”, operates a system of main gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities of the country.
Company’s primary activities are: the supply of natural gas to consumers in Ukraine; the transit of natural gas through Ukraine to the countries of Western and Central Europe; storage of natural gas in underground storage facilities; operation, reconstruction and maintenance of trunk pipelines and facilities on them; diagnosis, grading and certification of main and auxiliary equipment.
