Hundreds of thousands of workers could lose their jobs in the aviation sector if states do not provide the additional assistance.
“In the absence of additional government measures to provide assistance and open borders, hundreds of thousands of airline jobs will disappear, ” – said the executive director of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Alexandre de Juniac.
IATA represents 290 airlines and has previously revised its forecasts for 2020 after the end of the summer tourist season. Nowadays the association expects that the volume of the traffic will be 66% lower than in 2019.
However, it is estimated that the air traffic will reach the level that preceded the pandemic, at least until 2024.
