The low-cost airline Ryanair plans to expand in Ukraine if the open skies agreement with the EU is approved in the coming months. CEO Michael O’Leary stated this.
O’Leary predicts the signing of an agreement between Ukraine and the EU by the end of 2021.
“One of the markets I would single out is Ukraine. I think we will become the main investor in Ukraine when they join the European open skies agreement,” O’Leary said.
The company currently operates at five airports in Ukraine, but O’Leary added that there are about 12 potential airports in the country. Ryanair launched the first flights from Ukraine in 2018.
According to the agency, migrant workers are a significant market for a company that offers, on average, a fare of 40 euros per flight. The company also sees potential in domestic flights.
