Poland and Denmark have settled disputes over the Baltic Pipe

19.07.2021 News

Poland and Denmark have solved problems related to the construction of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. The representative of the Polish government on strategic energy infrastructure Petro Naimski announced this on Polish Radio.

“An agreement has been reached and work has resumed,” he said.

Currently, the laying of 100 km of offshore section of the gas pipeline has been completed.

“Two of the three seagoing vessels are currently operating in the Baltic. About 100 km of the Baltic Pipeline, with a total length of about 295 km, have already been laid at the bottom of the Baltic,” Naimsky said.

According to him, “everything is going according to plan.”

On May 4, 2020, the construction of the Baltic Pipe was launched in Poland. President Andrzej Duda announced this on national TV. He stressed that as a result, Ukraine will be able to receive gas.

The Baltic Pipe project involves three phases: the connection of Norwegian and Danish gas transmission systems, the expansion of Danish infrastructure, and the construction of the Baltic Pipe, which will connect Poland and Denmark along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The planned capacity of the gas pipeline is 10 billion cubic meters per year. Poland planned to complete the construction by October 1, 2022.

The cost of the project is more than 1.5 billion euros, of which almost 267 million are European Commission funds.
