Ukraine has made great efforts to create a new development strategy of its agri-food sector. Norway helps to bring this strategy to life by funding a project of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It is reported by the press service of the FAO.
Norway’s contribution of $ 362 thousand will enable FAO to provide support to the Ministry in the implementation of some of the initial stages of the strategic plan of action, which include:
preparation of legal documents;
economic valuation of fisheries and forestry – is earmarked for technical cooperation areas of Norway;
organization of technical training, including the coordination of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
“The project will provide support for the most important and significant areas. These areas are associated with law enforcement, food safety and food security, the development of agri-food chains and access to international markets “, – said Deputy Regional Representative of FAO Raimund Jehle.
The project will be coordinated by an authorized group of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food during 2016.
Technical support will be provided to the domain of the competitiveness of forestry enterprises and conduct a comprehensive study of the fishing industry of Ukraine.
“We understand the role of the financial investments of Norway to the agricultural sector of Ukraine in the critical time of reforms in the field of agriculture. This support will allow ministry staff to get the help they need, and to embark on a new and important activity “, – said Yale.
