Amazon’s digital advertising business (AMZN) has received a new high estimate of growth in 2020 from experts from the global research company eMarketer.
Amazon shares, which have not changed much since the beginning of 2021, rose at the beginning of trading on Wednesday.
EMarketer analysts gave investors another confirmation of the strong growth of the e-commerce giant in the US digital advertising market: amid the boom in online sales, Amazon’s revenue growth from advertising outpaced the growth of its main segments – e-sales revenue and cloud computing company AWS.
According to eMarketer, Amazon’s revenue from digital advertising in the US last year rose to $ 15.73 billion, up 52.5% from 2019. Such strong indicators suggest that Amazon is strengthening its position as a player № 3 and continues to take market share from the leaders.
Amazon’s share of the US digital advertising market rose to 10.3% in 2020 from 7.8% in 2019, Google’s market share (GOOGL, GOOG), by contrast, fell from 31.6% to 28.9%, Facebook ( FB) showed more modest growth: from 23.6% market share in 2019 to 25.2% in 2020.
Forecast for Amazon: The company’s share of the digital advertising market in the US will increase to 10.7% this year, with further growth to 11.9% in 2022 and 12.8% in 2023.
Forecast for Google: The share of digital advertising in the US will fall from 28.9% in 2020 to 26.6% in 2023.
