In the north of England, in the shire of Durham closed the last commercial coal mine Bradley Mine, which operated for almost 200 years.

“This is bad news for miners who working here, especially as the fact that the UK still needs almost 8 million tons of coal a year. This demand is mainly met by imports from Russia and the United States, “the statement said.
There are still several small mines in Scotland and Wales. But the last of them should close in October 2022.
The coal industry in England for many years has been in decline. Miners’ strikes, mass layoffs and fierce protests over mine closures in the 1980s failed to save the mine.
