06.01.2017 News

Analytical Internet edition Ars Technica has published an updated list of representatives of IT-business, who will be under the threat of extinction in the new 2017 year. At this time, the list is made up of 7 contenders. Among them are: the social network Twitter, the search engine Yahoo, Messenger Yik Yak, medical startup Theranos, company-developer of online games Gearbox Software and manufacturers of smartphones BlackBerry and HTC.

Among the main criterions used by analysts Ars Technica in the selection process are profitability of the project and its economic performance, compliance with the requirements of modern IT-market (technical indicators), the popularity among users and reliability of business strategy. Thus, in the course of the study, it was determined that all of the above companies have faced in the past year with serious challenges in each of these items, which is a prerequisite for their early elimination.

It is worth noting that for many it was not a surprise to find a social online platform Twitter at risk. Despite the fact that throughout 2016 year the hype around the topic of the sale of the social network did not cease, Twitter and shareholders could not find profitable customers. Meanwhile, the company continues to lose money: the amount of expenditures for the last 4 months was 289 million dollars, while the income part has not increased. In that case, if Twitter guide will not soon find a way out of this situation and to attract investors, it is necessary to close the project.
