Moldova and Romania Give Ukraine an “Energy Gift” Ahead of the Heating Season

27.10.2025 News

Moldova has decided to halve its natural gas transit tariff to Ukraine for the 2025–2026 heating season, the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova (ANRE) announced on its website.

The approved changes stipulate that, for a period of six months — from November 2025 to April 2026 — the gas transportation tariff will be reduced by 50%.

This move is part of a joint initiative by the gas transmission system operators of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine.

The announcement also notes that Romania’s gas transmission operator has introduced a similar 50% tariff reduction for gas transportation.

“The initiative aims to strengthen regional energy security and ensure the supply of natural gas to Ukraine…

With this decision, the Republic of Moldova reinforces its role as a regional transit corridor, facilitating the transportation of natural gas from Greece to Ukraine and contributing to the diversification of supply routes and sources,” the statement reads.
