03.09.2025 News

The former director of energy efficiency and property management at Naftogaz Group has been notified of suspicion of abuse of power. This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, he prematurely signed a lease agreement for an administrative building in Kyiv before the renovation work on the premises was completed.

Work on the building continued for almost three months after the agreement was signed, and Naftogaz Ukraine employees were unable to move into the new premises. Despite this, the rent was already being paid.

As a result, the company incurred unnecessary expenses, and the state, represented by Naftogaz Ukraine, suffered losses of more than 26 million hryvnias.

The agency does not name the suspect, but Ekonomichna Pravda, citing sources, writes that it is the former director of energy efficiency and property management of the Naftogaz Group, Vitaliy Shcherbenko.

The former official was notified of suspicion of abuse of office under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The penalty provides for imprisonment for up to six years.
