In May, annual inflation eased to 8.2%, down from 8.6% in April. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.9%, according to data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
Core inflation stood at 0.7% in May compared to April and reached 7.9% year-on-year.
Food products and non-alcoholic beverages recorded the largest monthly increase, rising by 1.2%. Fruit prices led the growth, surging by 11.1%.
Prices also increased for processed grain products, bread, sunflower oil, pasta, fish, non-alcoholic beverages, beef, and sugar, with gains ranging from 1.2% to 6.4%.
At the same time, egg prices fell by 15.3%. Prices for vegetables, milk, pork, butter, and lard also declined.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.9%, including a 2.1% rise in tobacco products and a 1.6% increase in alcoholic beverages.
Transport prices rose by 0.7%, mainly driven by a 2.7% increase in road passenger transportation fares, as well as a 0.6% rise in fuel and lubricant prices.
