The World Bank will allocate over $33 million to Kharkiv for the development of energy infrastructure, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
‘This is the second stage of the RePower programme, and we were able to obtain this funding thanks to the successful implementation of the first part of the project, signed last year at the conference on Ukraine’s recovery in Berlin,’ said the mayor.
Terekhov specified that the funding received will make it possible to take another big step forward. The city will receive an additional 8.5 megawatts of its own generation – modern cogeneration units that will be installed in the most vulnerable areas.
He explained that where the risk of power outages is highest, they will provide heat and light to hospitals, schools, boiler rooms and residential buildings – even in a complete blackout.
