During the first half of 2018, about UAH 5 billion of taxes came from the Ukrainian IT industry to the state budget. This is 30.1 % more than last year, and we predict that the amount of these fees will increase to 9-10 UAH billion by the end of 2018.
Of course, such progress happened due to an increase in the number of IT specialists. GlobalLogic in Ukraine has recently overcome the mark of 4 000 professionals. Over the past year, the team grew over 30 %. In general, according to unofficial data, the number of engineers in the market grow by 19 % annually, so there are 127 000 IT professionals in Ukraine now. This tendency could be related to the attractiveness of the industry for students. According to the various estimates, from the Institutes of higher education annually graduate from 16 to 23 thousand bachelors of IT. However, not all of them choose this career, as they are not ready to work with international partners.
In order to change this trend, it is necessary for the business to cooperate more actively with the Ukrainian Institutes of higher education. Thus, we could increase the number of qualified specialists who are ready to be involved in serious projects immediately after graduation. In addition, it will help to lay off the foundation for the IT industry development in the long-term perspective.
