For Pony.ai, the partnership provides a ready-made global platform for entering new markets, while Uber gains access to the Chinese developer\u2019s autonomous driving technology.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"449\" data-end=\"698\">Pony.ai is already an established player in the commercial robotaxi sector. The company provides paid autonomous ride services in four Chinese cities and has been working with Uber for more than a year to bring its technology beyond its home market.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"891\">Earlier this year, Pony.ai and Uber also partnered with Verne, an autonomous robotaxi company backed by Rimac founder Mate Rimac. Verne, in turn, is developing its service in Zagreb, Croatia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"1243\">Under the new partnership, Pony.ai will provide Level 4 autonomous driving technology and its operational expertise in running robotaxi services. Uber will give passengers access to the service through its app, which will also handle ride payments. In some countries, local fleet operators may be involved in the day-to-day operation of the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1476\">Pony.ai\u2019s robotaxis are expected to launch in four European cities. The companies have not yet disclosed which cities will receive the service first. They have also not announced an exact timeline for the rollout of the new fleets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1478\" data-end=\"1667\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Europe, however, will not be the final destination of the expansion.
