These preliminary figures were released by Eurostat.

The figure was in line with analysts’ expectations. The rise in inflation came against a backdrop of rising energy prices, particularly following fluctuations in the oil markets.

Among the main components of inflation, the highest year-on-year increase is expected in the energy sector – 10 per cent, compared with 8.5 per cent in June.

Meanwhile, prices for services rose by 3.3 per cent year-on-year, compared with 3.2 per cent a month earlier.

By contrast, the food, alcohol and tobacco category showed a slowdown in growth – 1.2 per cent compared with 1.5 per cent in June.

Non-food industrial goods rose by 0.9 per cent, compared with 0.7 per cent in the previous month.

Eurostat notes that the published estimate is provisional. The full set of harmonised consumer price indices for July is due to be published on 19 August.

Since January 2026, Bulgaria has also been part of the eurozone, so statistical data from the start of the year are calculated for the updated composition of the eurozone (EA21).

[9
["post-152012","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
