The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has repealed the temporary relaxations to the rules on the labelling of foodstuffs and animal feed, which had been in place since 2022 due to the full-scale war. This was announced by the Ministry of Economy and Environment.<\/p>\n
From 1 October 2026, manufacturers and importers will be required to return to full compliance with the regulations \u2013 information on packaging must be in Ukrainian and fully correspond to the actual composition of the product.<\/p>\n
This includes, in particular, the precise indication of the recipe, nutritional value, potential allergens and other important product characteristics. The permission granted to relocated businesses to use packaging from other manufacturers will also cease to apply.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Economy and Environment explained that the simplifications were introduced in the early months of the full-scale war to prevent food shortages and support businesses in difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2022, the temporary relaxation of requirements was necessary to prevent product shortages, support producers and maintain an uninterrupted supply,\u201d said Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
According to him, the market situation has now stabilised, and production processes and logistics have adapted to the new conditions. \u201cConsumers must receive accurate information in Ukrainian about the composition, properties and safety of products. This is the basis for informed choice, the protection of people\u2019s rights and fair competition in the market,\u201d emphasised Bashlyk.<\/p>\n
