The forecast was cited by Euronews, referencing the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook report.

If realized, this would make Ukraine the third-fastest growing economy in Europe in terms of GDP growth during the period.

The IMF expects the euro area economy to expand at a much slower pace, averaging just 1.2% annually, with the strongest performance projected for 2028, when growth is expected to reach 1.4%. Across the European Union, average annual growth is forecast at 1.4%, also peaking at 1.6% in 2028.

According to the report, Europe’s relatively modest growth outlook reflects several structural challenges, including high public debt, aging populations, weak productivity growth, elevated energy costs, and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

Among European economies, Malta and Kosovo are projected to record the strongest average annual GDP growth at 4.0%, followed by Ukraine at 3.8%, ahead of Serbia (3.52%) and Moldova (3.5%).

The IMF identifies post-war reconstruction as the primary driver of Ukraine’s future economic expansion. The report also anticipates a substantial inflow of foreign investment, which could reach $600 billion.

However, the forecast is based on the assumption that the war will come to an end. If hostilities continue, Ukraine’s economic growth could slow to approximately 1% as early as 2027, significantly weakening the country’s medium-term growth outlook.

[9
["post-151887","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
