Global coffee and sugar prices continued to climb on the New York and London exchanges as adverse weather conditions in key producing countries fueled concerns over future supplies and crop yields, Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n
The most actively traded Arabica coffee futures contract rose 3.1%, following a record intraday gain in the previous session. Overall, coffee futures have advanced nearly 10% over the past week.<\/p>\n
The price rally has been driven by persistent rainfall in Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producer, which has delayed the harvest and raised concerns about bean quality. According to weather forecaster Climatempo, a new cold front is expected to move across southern Brazil early next week, although heavy rainfall is unlikely to affect the country’s main coffee-growing regions.<\/p>\n
Supply constraints have also supported prices, as farmers have been reluctant to sell their crops due to the wet weather. Meanwhile, Arabica inventories held in exchange-certified warehouses have fallen to their lowest level since March 2024.<\/p>\n
Raw sugar futures also gained 2.9%, reaching their highest level since mid-May.
