Ukraine’s state budget has received nearly $600 million to finance social assistance payments for the country’s most vulnerable citizens, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced.<\/p>\n
According to the Prime Minister, the funding was provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) under the SPIRIT project, implemented jointly with the World Bank.<\/p>\n
The financing package includes $300 million backed by Japanese guarantees and $298.75 million supported by bilateral guarantees from the UK Government. The total value of the SPIRIT project amounts to $880 million and is expected to benefit more than one million Ukrainians in need of social assistance.<\/p>\n
