Automotive giant Stellantis has announced plans to expand the Jeep lineup in Europe, Bloomberg reports. By the end of the decade, the company will introduce a new full-size SUV that will be manufactured in China at Dongfeng\u2019s plant in Wuhan.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made by Fabio Catone, Head of Jeep Europe. According to him, Jeep\u2019s European portfolio will grow from two to six models by 2030, with the new SUV forming part of the brand\u2019s broader product expansion strategy.<\/p>\n
The project also marks a renewed phase of cooperation between Stellantis and the Chinese automaker Dongfeng. While the company\u2019s previous management had considered scaling back its operations in China, the appointment of new CEO Antonio Filosa has led to a strategic shift, with the partnership once again becoming a key element of Stellantis\u2019 global plans.<\/p>\n
In addition to the joint production of the new Jeep model, Stellantis and Dongfeng are establishing a separate joint venture that will enable the Chinese manufacturer to assemble its own vehicles at one of Stellantis\u2019 production facilities in France.<\/p>\n
Jeep emphasized that although the new model will be built in China, the brand will remain fundamentally American.
