Following this new commitment, the company’s total investment in the country between 2010 and 2030 will exceed $88 billion, underscoring the strategic importance of the Indian market for one of the world’s largest technology companies.

According to Amazon, the new funding will primarily be used to expand the data center capacity of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The rapid growth in demand for artificial intelligence services requires a significant increase in computing capacity, and Amazon aims to strengthen its position in one of the world’s fastest-growing digital markets.

In addition to investing in cloud infrastructure, the company plans to open more than 20 new fulfillment centers and over 100 last-mile delivery stations across India this year, enabling faster order processing and delivery nationwide.

Amazon had previously announced plans to invest more than $35 billion in India by 2030, but the new investment package significantly expands the scale of the company’s presence in the country. As a result, Amazon’s cumulative investment in the Indian economy over the 20-year period is now expected to exceed $88 billion.

The announcement coincides with a visit to India by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. During his trip, Jassy is meeting with entrepreneurs, employees, business leaders, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit marks Jassy’s first trip to India as CEO, highlighting the country’s growing importance to Amazon’s long-term strategy.

India represents a key market for Amazon due to its population of more than 1.4 billion people, the rapid digitalization of its economy, and the accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence technologies. In recent years, the world’s leading technology companies have been investing heavily in Indian data centers, cloud platforms, and digital services, viewing the country as one of the primary engines of global growth.

At the same time, Amazon intends to strengthen its position in the fast-delivery segment. The company has announced the expansion of its Amazon Now service, which enables customers to receive orders within a matter of hours. The move comes amid intensifying competition from Indian companies, particularly Blinkit, as well as Amazon’s largest e-commerce rival in the country, Flipkart, which is owned by Walmart.

The announcement highlights how the world’s largest technology companies continue to channel billions of dollars into the development of data centers, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence solutions. These sectors have become the key drivers of global investment and technological innovation, shaping the next phase of the digital economy.

[9
["post-151832","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
