However, it remains unclear whether any such fees would be mandatory.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"605\" data-end=\"808\">The Sultanate is reportedly studying systems used along other major global shipping routes, including the Strait of Malacca in Asia, where no mandatory transit fees are imposed on commercial vessels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"810\" data-end=\"1060\">Bloomberg notes that the United States, Europe, and Oman\u2019s Arab neighbors in the Persian Gulf are increasingly concerned that Oman could work with Iran to introduce a paid transit system for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1328\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to meet with Oman&#8217;s leader in Paris on Monday, June 29.
