This was reported by Euractiv.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The proposal was approved by 43 committee members, while 14 voted against it and one abstained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The European Parliament hopes to finalize an agreement on the new currency with EU member states by the end of this year. A pilot launch of the project is expected in the second half of 2027, with a full rollout by the European Central Bank (ECB) planned for 2029.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The digital form of money issued by the European Central Bank is intended to complement cash and existing banking services rather than replace them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Under the proposal, consumers will be able to store digital euros in a dedicated wallet, subject to a holding limit.
