Stellantis has launched a global recall of more than 1.3 million Jeep vehicles due to a potential fire risk, Reuters reports. The recall is linked to a defect in the electrical connection within the wiring of the electric-hydraulic power steering pump.<\/p>\n
The recall affects 2021\u20132025 Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models. According to the manufacturer, under certain rare circumstances, the faulty connection may cause components to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.<\/p>\n
The largest number of affected vehicles are in the United States, where nearly 1.08 million units are being recalled. Approximately 106,000 vehicles are registered in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 are located in other international markets.<\/p>\n
As part of the recall campaign, dealers will inspect the electrical wiring and, if necessary, repair or replace the wiring harness or the electric-hydraulic power steering pump. All repairs will be carried out free of charge for vehicle owners.<\/p>\n
According to Stellantis, only one possible injury related to the defect has been reported so far. The company has received no reports of accidents or fatalities associated with the issue.<\/p>\n
