OpenAI is preparing a major update that will transform ChatGPT into a “super app.” The company is focusing on AI agents that will not only respond to users but also take actions on their behalf, according to the Financial Times.<\/p>\n
The first changes could begin rolling out within the coming weeks and will affect both the web version of the service and its mobile applications.<\/p>\n
OpenAI increasingly believes that the future of artificial intelligence lies in agents capable of independently carrying out a wide range of tasks. These include booking travel, scheduling meetings, managing calendars, conducting research, and handling other everyday activities. As a result, ChatGPT is expected to gradually evolve into a comprehensive “super app” that integrates multiple AI tools within a single service.<\/p>\n
One of the key areas of development will be the expansion of Codex, OpenAI\u2019s platform that enables users to create software and generate code using natural-language instructions.<\/p>\n
To support this vision, OpenAI is also redesigning the ChatGPT interface. Users will be encouraged to make greater use of coding tools, image-generation features, and services from external partners, including Canva and Booking.com.<\/p>\n
In the longer term, the company aims to make interactions with the service even more seamless. OpenAI expects future AI models to understand user intentions automatically and recommend the appropriate tools without requiring additional prompts.<\/p>\n
Thibaut Sottiau, who oversees OpenAI\u2019s core products and platforms, said the company\u2019s ultimate goal is to create a personal AI assistant that accompanies users throughout both their professional and personal lives.<\/p>\n
“We want to create a situation where you have your own personal agent capable of helping you throughout your life, whether in your personal or professional activities. You can interact with it through your phone, desktop computer, or the web. When you’re in your car, you can talk to it,”<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n The planned changes also serve a business objective.
