This was reported earlier by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">The Moscow Times<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"396\" data-end=\"648\">On Thursday, Russia\u2019s Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) announced the selection of an organizer for the sale of a 23.76% stake in Aeroflot \u2014 the national airline carrier that serves more than 50 million passengers annually.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"901\">The government plans to sell roughly one-third of its stake in Aeroflot, which currently amounts to 73.8% of the company\u2019s shares. The shares are expected to be sold on the stock exchange, where 25% of the airline\u2019s shares are already publicly traded.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1180\">Based on calculations using data from the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Moscow Exchange<\/span><\/span>, the state could receive around 45 billion rubles from the sale. Aeroflot\u2019s total market capitalization at the close of trading on May 22 stood at 187 billion rubles, or approximately $2.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1447\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The proceeds from the privatization will go toward the federal budget, whose deficit has already reached 5.8 trillion rubles, or 2.5% of GDP, since the beginning of the year.
