This was reported on Monday, May 18, by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Reuters<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"440\" data-end=\"732\">The Federal Court ruled that the artificial intelligence company bears no liability toward Musk for allegedly deviating from its original mission of working for the benefit of humanity. The jury also determined that Musk filed the lawsuit too late. Jurors deliberated for less than two hours.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"935\">The trial is considered a critical moment for the future of OpenAI and the artificial intelligence industry as a whole \u2014 both regarding how AI should be used and who should benefit from the technology.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"937\" data-end=\"1300\">The ruling clears the way for OpenAI toward a potential initial public offering (IPO), which could value the company at $1 trillion. At the same time, the public face of the company, CEO Sam Altman, may still face reputational consequences due to highly personal testimony during the proceedings, including statements from several witnesses who called him a liar.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1302\" data-end=\"1567\">After the verdict was announced, Musk\u2019s lawyers stated in court that he reserves the right to appeal. Speaking to reporters afterward, Musk\u2019s attorney <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Marc Toberoff<\/span><\/span> said the businessman would have strong grounds for challenging the decision.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1569\" data-end=\"1689\">\u201cThis is not the end.
