This was announced by Istv\u00e1n Kapit\u00e1ny, the nominee for minister of economy and energy, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"317\" data-end=\"457\">The project, valued at nearly $15 billion, \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0441\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0432\u0430\u0435\u0442 the construction of two new power units at the existing Paks nuclear power plant.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"692\">According to Kapit\u00e1ny, the government intends to audit the contracts because they are classified, and the new administration does not have access to the full documentation. He emphasized the need for a \u201ctransparent nuclear strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"811\">Prime Minister P\u00e9ter Magyar had previously also stated his intention to review all agreements related to the project.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"969\">The contract for the construction of the two reactors was signed in 2014 without a tender under the government of Viktor Orb\u00e1n with a subsidiary of Rosatom.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1231\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The Paks nuclear power plant is Hungary\u2019s only nuclear facility. It has been operating since the 1970s\u20131980s and currently has four VVER-440 reactors.
