{"id":151437,"date":"2026-04-09T15:00:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T12:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=151437"},"modified":"2026-04-07T18:55:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T15:55:05","slug":"brazyliya-vnesla-kytajsku-kompaniyu-vyd-do-reyestru-rabovlasnykiv","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/novosti\/brazyliya-vnesla-kytajsku-kompaniyu-vyd-do-reyestru-rabovlasnykiv\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil Adds Chinese Company BYD to \u201cSlave Labor\u201d Registry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"63\" data-end=\"198\">Brazil has added Chinese electric vehicle market leader BYD to its registry of employers involved in labor violations, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"382\">This move creates additional reputational risks for the automaker in its largest market outside China and also restricts BYD\u2019s access to certain types of credit from Brazilian banks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"552\">In 2024, Brazilian officials identified 163 Chinese nationals working under conditions similar to forced labor at a BYD factory construction site in the state of Bahia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"760\">According to employment contracts, the Chinese workers were required to hand over their passports to their employer, allow most of their wages to be sent directly to China, and pay a deposit of nearly $900.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"970\">Workers reportedly lived in overcrowded conditions without mattresses. In one case, 31 workers were housed in a single building with only one bathroom, with food stored on the floor among personal belongings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1157\">Jinjiang Group, the contractor used by BYD to hire workers, denied the allegations.
