{"id":151356,"date":"2026-03-26T12:00:54","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T10:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=151356"},"modified":"2026-03-24T14:08:04","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T12:08:04","slug":"yevrosoyuz-ta-avstraliya-domovylysya-pro-vilnu-torgivlyu","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/yevrosoyuz-ta-avstraliya-domovylysya-pro-vilnu-torgivlyu\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and Australia Agree on Free Trade Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"47\" data-end=\"289\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Union<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Australia<\/span><\/span> on Tuesday, March 24, concluded negotiations on a free trade agreement that began in 2018, according to the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Commission<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"291\" data-end=\"600\">EU exports are expected to grow by up to 33% over the next decade, reaching \u20ac17.7 billion annually. Key sectors with strong growth potential include dairy products (expected to increase by up to 48%), automobiles (52%), and chemicals (20%). EU investments in Australia could rise by more than 87%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"757\">The agreement will also strengthen the EU\u2019s strategic interests in critical raw materials, making supply chains more resilient to geopolitical disruptions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"991\">The free trade deal will create more opportunities for European companies by granting EU exporters preferential access to the Australian market, including the removal of more than 99% of tariffs on EU goods exports to Australia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1240\">It is expected to boost EU agri-food exports by eliminating tariffs on key products such as cheeses, processed meats, wine and sparkling wine, certain fruits and vegetables (including processed forms), as well as chocolate and sugar confectionery.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1480\">For sensitive agricultural sectors \u2014 such as beef, sugar, certain dairy products, and rice \u2014 the agreement will allow imports from Australia at zero or reduced tariffs only in limited quantities through carefully calibrated tariff quotas.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1684\">The European Commission noted that Australia is a major producer of raw materials, including aluminum, lithium, and manganese, which are vital for the EU\u2019s overall economic security and competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1991\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Following approval by the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Council of the European Union<\/span><\/span>, the EU and Australia will be able to sign the agreement. It will also require the consent of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Parliament<\/span><\/span> and a formal decision by the Council.
