The ceremony took place in Moscow in the presence of the prime ministers of both countries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"750\">The project \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0441\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0432\u0430\u0435\u0442 the construction in Vietnam of two power units of Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors, with a total installed capacity of 2.4 gigawatts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"752\" data-end=\"957\">Vietnam had approved plans to build its first two nuclear power plants back in 2009, but they were postponed in 2016 following the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan, as well as due to budget constraints.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1345\">Russia and Japan were initially expected to be involved in the construction of the Ninh Thuan-1 and Ninh Thuan-2 plants, with a combined capacity of 4 gigawatts.
